From Waste to Taste

Description

Brazil produces and exports a lot of food. In fact, it is one of the largest suppliers of agricultural products in the world, third only to the European Union and the United States. Unfortunately, a lot of food in the country is lost even before it reaches supermarkets and homes.

Through the virtual reality film From Waste to Taste, you are introduced to chef Rodrigo, a couple, Rosemberg and Maria Celia, and Deise, an alternative cooking teacher, to see how Brazilians are fighting against food waste and teaching future generators about the importance of food waste management. Each of them take their own role in a food management chain that redistributes donated food that would have otherwise been thrown away in Rio de Janeiro.

What Works Well

This video presents clear views of differing angles from which one can pursue addressing gaps in our food systems and does so with a global perspective, showing that these inefficiencies are not just isolated to our immediate communities.

Level of Guidance

What does this mean?

The Level of Guidance indicates how much the creator has imbued the video with a sense of at what the viewer should be looking.

For instance, a Level 1 video would mean that the camera has been left in place while life happens around it, allowing you, as the viewer, to simply observe. A Level 2 video might incorporate subtle visual, textual or audible hints or simple transitions. A Level 3 video would rely on a handful of hints and transition. A Level 4 video would employ multiple hints and dialogue. And a Level 5 video would rely on all of the above as well as a narrative arc that pushes the viewer forward.

Another way of looking at this would be how much production went into the video if you are considering making one of your own like it.
